“Having a role like Depute Head Girl in the school and being care experienced does say a lot to other young people in the school. The difference I'm hoping to make as Depute Head Girl is showing that just because you are care experienced, does not mean you can't do anything.”

Cheyanne who is Depute Head Girl at Dunoon Grammar is just one of Argyll and Bute’s care experienced young people who is keen to encourage others to develop their skills to become more confident.

A once-overgrown garden at Rothesay Joint Campus has blossomed into a vibrant outdoor learning hub, thanks to a generous donation from Saputo, an international cheese company.

The transformation has created a dynamic space where over three hundred children and young people now enjoy hands-on horticulture lessons, grow their own food, and connect with nature — all while learning valuable life skills.

The newly constructed Balliemore Bridge in Glen Lean, Cowal, opened to traffic today (Tuesday 21 October), marking a major milestone in Argyll and Bute Council’s infrastructure recovery efforts following severe weather in 2023.
